Professor Louise Stark

Professor Stark received her Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of South Florida and is currently with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of the Pacific. She also maintains a courtesy appointment with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at USF and serves on the committees of two Ph.D. students at USF (Melanie Sutton and Adam Hoover), both of whom are past REU program participants. Professor Stark spends a portion of each summer as a visiting researcher at USF. She will help to supervise REU participants, give part of the summer short course and generally serve as a role model for female REU participants. Professor Stark's work has been supported by the NSF and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, as well as other institutions. Professor Stark received the Eberhardt Teacher/Scholar Award from UoP in 1994. Professor Stark has served on the program committee of several major conferences, served as guest editor for a special issue of the International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Image Processing and is an Associate Editor of the journal Pattern Recognition.
